Choreographic adventures!!!!!!!!

I was lucky, I am lucky and I sometimes chuckle at how fortunate I have been to have worked with some of the greatest choreographers in the world who when you analyze  subsequently became my teachers.  How do you make a piece,, the thought behind it, what not to include, the musicality, the artistry, the wanted effect, the costumes to help you relay your message as well as the sets and lighting, having just the right amount of entertainment and profundity, the list goes on…  Watching Alvin Ailey, Kevin Jeff, Hans Van Maanen, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Mats Ek, Billy Forsythe, Ohad Naharin and so many others was inspiring if not intellectually challenging at times.  During the time I was at the Netherlands Dance Theater we were offered endless opportunities to allow our choreographic talents to evolve.  The fact that were there already proved that there was something inspiring to the current director in achieving his goal.

An event to help us nurture our choreographic and organizational skills was the yearly choreographic workshop which although sometimes ran into marathon length displayed the influence our teachers were making.  Some were encouraged more than others and their amazing achievements stand out today as they have become world famous.  Being who I am I could never say that I was a choreographer.  It is not in my constitution to boast nor is it to constantly remind you how great I am. “Most who boast are mostly burnt toast” I figure that you are intelligent enough to know what you like.  Life is teaching me that not everyone likes or will love you so that being said, here are some of the pieces which I have created.  Some professional, amateur, some with professionals, some with amateurs, some great, some awful, some pleasing to the eye, some not, some touching, some regrettable, and on, and on, and……..
